Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero is out for a month with the knee injury sustained in his team's win over Southampton at the weekend. The Argentine went down after just thirteen minutes clutching his knee writing in agony, and had to be stretchered from the field of play. It was feared that the forward would face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but manager Roberto Mancini revealed he will be back in action by mid September. Speaking to The Guardian, he said:
"I don't think Sergio will be out for long and we are hoping he will be back after the international break, which is fantastic news for him and for us. We were worried a couple of days ago because we feared he could be out for six months or maybe even more which would have been very bad news. It looked like a very strange injury and because it was his knee, we were obviously very concerned so this news is a relief for everybody."The player himself was quick to dispel fears of a lengthy injury by taking to micro-social networking site Twitter on the evening of his injury. There, he wrote:
"The studies I had done revealed there's no significant injury but it was a very tough hit to my knee."Whilst this will come as good news for City fans, they will still have to make do without their goal hero for this weekends trip to Anfield against Liverpool. There was more bad news for City as well in the injury department, with the news that defender Micah Richards will definitely miss the first month of his teams title defence. Gareth Barry is also missing with an abominable injury.
