Man City Transfer News: Shock Cristiano Ronaldo Bid Coming?
Daily Star. They have told Ronaldo's camp they are prepared to beat any financial offer put on the table by the English champions, meaning they could pay an eye-watering £300,000-a-week to land the Portuguese superstar. This will come as bad news to United, who have spent the last five months preparing a deal that would bring the 28-year-old back to Old Trafford - four years after selling him to Madrid for what remains a world-transfer-record £80 million. City know the forward's loyalty to their Manchester rivals could prove to be a stumbling block in their pursuits of the player, but have told Ronaldo's representatives their interest is a serious one. They have also made it clear that if the former Sporting Lisbon man was ever made available by Real, they would be prepared to blow United's offer out of the water. Ronaldo has two years left to run on his current contract at the Bernabeu and in spite of claims that the player is close to signing an extension, it is understood Real have yet to make a formal offer. That has led to increased optimism at Old Trafford that they can re-sign Ronaldo, though this latest City interest will come as a concern. Despite speculation linking both Manchester clubs with the number 7, neither have made a bid as of yet. The only club to have done so is French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who saw a £55 million offer knocked back last week.
