Hot on the heels of news that Man Utd had been made 1/1 favourites to sign Falcao, it looks like the Colombian might be on his way to Manchester, but not to sign for Louis Van Gaal. According to Sky Sports, rumours have emerged that there is a private jet waiting at Nice airport to fly the Monaco striker across to England, to speak with Man City ahead of a potential move. Alvaro Negredo has already been linked with a move away from the club, after finding himself pushed down the pecking order by Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero, and City could replace him astonishingly well. Sky Sports say that the deal is likely to be a slow burning one, as Falcao's agent attempts to play off the interested parties against each other, in order to get him as much money as possible. The sticking point for most clubs would be that Falcao is currently on £200,000 a week tax free at Monaco, and would be unlikely to be happy to take a major pay-cut. City would be able to afford the contract of course - since financial fair play doesn't really apply to them if they can just buy their way around it. But, City are restricted to a £49m budget for the summer because of their over-spending, and would only have £25m or so left, so a loan deal would be the most likely opportunity for the Champions, with the fee set supposedly at £20m.
