Arguably the most important battle on the pitch this afternoon will be the one that sees Wayne Rooney clash with the Ivorian midfielder, and the winner of this particular head-to-head is bound to have a massive impact on the result of the game. Rooney isn't playing as a striker at the minute, having started on both flanks and as an attacking midfielder floating around the pitch offering support around the pitch, and taking up the slack in midfield thanks to the shortage in numbers. While Sir Alex's tinkering with positions all but destroyed the impact of former striker Alan Smith, Rooney seems to be thriving, and though he isn't scoring the number of goals he used to, his performances so far have been impressive. His opposite today will be Toure, the powerful complete midfielder who packs as much defensive punch as Rooney's attack does, and who will no doubt be tasked with keeping as close an eye on the England man as possible. Expect fireworks.
