Man City vs Man Utd - 5 Reasons Why Citizens Will Win

By Joshua Jones /

Manuel Pellegrini's first season in English football was always going to be a learning curve, it'd be a learning curve for anyone, especially at one of the biggest club's in the league right now. Going into his first Manchester derby, Pellegrini has made a similar start to his counterpart, winning 4 of the last 6 games this season. City made an impressive start in the first Monday Night Football game of the season. They battered a sorry Newcastle side 4-0, and things looked good- only for them then to go to Championship winners Cardiff and lose 3-2. Pellegrini's Citizens got themselves back on track with a 2-0 win at home to Cardiff's fellow new-boys, Hull City. The win was described as far from convincing, and those doubts were followed up by a boring 0-0 draw away at Stoke City. Thankfully then, City went to the Czech Republic and smashed a sorry Viktoria Plzen side 3-0, with an absolute beauty from Yaya Toure. City had won their first game in the Champions League for almost two years and there was optimism around the Etihad. Therefore, City go into the Manchester derby full of confidence that they can replicate their result from earlier in the year, in which they won 2-1 courtesy of goals from James Milner and Sergio Aguero.
