Manchester United will finally complete the signing of Crewe's sensational teenager Nick Powell today, according to a report in The Sun. The Red Devils have been chasing the signature of the 18-year-old midfielder for months and the deal to bring him to Old Trafford was taking so long that Chelsea and Arsenal were considering making a late move to scupper the deal. In the end it appears a £6 million fee with Crewe has been agreed for Manchester United, £2 million more than what was quoted just a week ago. Powell has enjoyed a marvellous season at Crewe where a great striker in their 2-0 League Two play-off final against Cheltenham last month saw them promoted to League One. After helping guide The Railway Men to League One, Powell may well find himself playing in that division next season as the rumours are the transfer deal includes a season-long loan straight back to the Alexandria Stadium to further develop and gain experience. This is seen to be more valuable than turning out regularly for the United reserves and the odd first team appearance in the domestic campaign.
