Man United Transfer News: Danny Welbeck Signs New Deal
Manchester United's Danny Welbeck has signed a new four year deal with the club.
"Playing for United is all I've ever wanted to do - it's the club I've supported all my life."United's veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson commented:
"Danny has been with the club since he was eight and has made fantastic progress in the last couple of years."Welbeck, who has had a loan spell at Sunderland, enjoyed a far more consistent role at the club last season, where he was able to tie down a regular starting position up front with Wayne Rooney in preference to Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov. With the youngster agreeing to a contract extension, the Red Devil's options up front look ample, with the aforementioned strikers along with Italian Federico Macheda and new signing Robin van Persie vying for a spot up front with Rooney. The capture of last year's golden boot winner however may mean Welbeck doesn't feature quite as frequently this season, but at only 21, he clearly has a bright future ahead of him and is prepared to bide his time for the moment as he develops his play. "I'm learning all the time from the best manager in the game." He said. "I'm keen for that to continue alongside the world class players in the squad."
