FC Porto€™s James Rodriguez looks to have ended after the club were informed the Columbian would cost them £40 million. The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United would have to meet James Rodriguez€™s £40 million buy-cause if the team wanted to sign the winger. This news can only mean United will have to back away from any sort of deal and look at the alternatives after Sir Alex Ferguson admitted they wouldn€™t meet stupid demands. Speaking at Manchester United€™s Player of the Year awards ceremony, Sir Alex admitted the club can€™t afford to over spend:

€œWe invest in young players. That is what we are good at €“ we're not like other clubs who can spend fortunes on proven goods. We know that City are going to spend fortunes, pay stupid money, pay silly salaries and all that.€
The Mirror reported earlier this week that Manchester United were interested in the 20-year-old as a replacement for contact rebel Nani and that a bid was forthcoming. The Red Devils were originally set to spend £25 million on Rodriguez until Porto stated that the player agreed a deal last year with a 45 million euro buyout-clause which isn€™t set to run out for another four years.
