Borussia Dortmund have denied reports that striker Robert Lewandowski is set to join Manchester United this summer. Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Chief Executive of the club has publically stated that the striker will not be leaving the German outfit regardless of any interest. Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be interested in the 23-year-old Polish striker, and whilst Manchester United may have already lured Shinji Kagawa away from Dortmund, the Bundesliga Champions are determined not to loose another. Watzke told Polish media Sportinformationsdienst :
"It does not matter if we are to receive bids. I have said for weeks that Robert will be back in training with our club after the Euro 2012 and his holiday leave. And this is what will happen."
This came after the Poland Manager, Franciszek Smuda, claimed that the 23-year-old was joining Manchester United over the summer. There seems to have been a lot of confusion over where Lewandowski will play his football next year. His Polish manager seemed confident speaking to the media on Friday that he is set for Manchester, whilst Dortmund continue to deny these claims. Lewandowski has been a crucial part to Dortmund over the last season, his 22 league goals in 34 appearances for the club shows his worth. As well as improving his club performances he also played his part internationally by scoring in Poland€™s Euro 2012 opener against Greece. Manchester United are becoming increasingly interested in the player and hope he could become a replacement for either Nani or Berbatov, who are both rumoured to be leaving Old Trafford. Its unclear what the 23-year-old wants but we imagine this is set to become clearer once the Euro€™s have finished.
