Louis Van Gaal has signed a three-year contract and it remains to be seen if he will see that out or extent it beyond that time period. Football has clearly changed a lot in recent years, but I still like the fact that a manager can stay at one club for a long time. This is a big reason why the appointment of this manager is strange, I would have preferred to have seen a younger man brought in. Van Gaal is 62 now and probably wont be looking for a long stay in England. I earlier mentioned his two biggest jobs in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich its worth mentioning that his spell at the German giants only lasted around two years while his second spell at Barcelona was less than a year. When it comes to staying in a job for a long time that has only really come in the jobs he has held in his own country. Therefore, a stay for even three years at Old Trafford has to be put in some doubt.
