Man Utd: 5 Games That Will Define Their Season

5. Bayer Leverkusen Away (Champions League 27/11/2013)

Their biggest test in the Champions League this season is approaching fast, with a trip to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday evening. Having had a mixed time in this season's campaign, United find themselves top of Group A but just one point ahead of their German opponents. A loss against Leverkusen could well leave them in third place in the group, with Shakhtar Donetsk looking likely to beat Real Sociedad in Ukraine, meaning Moyes' side must pick up at least a point in Germany on Wednesday to have control over the own destiny in the tournament. Sami Hyypia's side have only lost three games all season, and find themselves second in the Bundesliga just four points off high flying Bayern Munich. This is not a side to be taken lightly, particularly considering United's struggles against Cardiff City at the weekend, where a late goal for the Welsh side meant another disappointing draw in the league for Moyes. In his first Champions League campaign Moyes has to at least make it to the knockout stages, with a group that at the start of the season should have seen them finish top, but thanks to the huge changes in the summer, Moyes will be looking to this game to qualify for the next round.
