Man Utd Officially Sign Fred For £52 Million
New recruit is the seventh Brazilian ever to play for the club.
The Premier League's official website and BBC Sport have confirmed that 25-year old Brazilian Fred has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with Man Utd after completing his medical at Utd's Carrington training ground.
By signing from Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk, Fred has become José Mourinho's first summer recruit, and he's also only the seventh Brazilian ever to pull on the famous red jersey. BBC reported the transfer fee between both clubs as £52 million.
Now he knows he'll be playing in the Premier League next season, Fred will jet off to Russia and join up with his Brazil teammates as they prepare for the 2018 World Cup. He recently appeared as an 82nd-minute substitute for his nation's 2-0 victory over Croatia last weekend at Anfield.
To celebrate the new signing, Man Utd's official YouTube channel uploaded a video looking at the club's history of South American players.
Fred helped Shakhtar reach the Champions League knockout stages last season, and starred in vital wins over Man City and Napoli.
