Michael Sohn/AP/Press Association ImagesBayern Munich and Netherlands winger Arjen Robben has been linked with a move to Manchester United recently, but should the Red Devils sign the 30-year-old? Robben is enjoying an impressive World Cup at present with the Holland national side, and is the tournament's sixth-highest goalscorer - level with compatriot Robin van Persie with three goals. Will he line up alongside van Persie at Old Trafford next season? The Red Devils have just appointed Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal as their new boss following David Moyes's disastrous reign, and LVG knows the player well. It was van Gaal who brought Robben to current club Bayern in 2009, signing him from Real Madrid, and the duo spent two years together at the Allianz Arena, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and DFB-Supercup in 2010. And the new United manager "is desperate" to be reunited with Robben at the Theatre of Dreams next season, according to the Daily Star. United's midfield is in obvious need of improvement, particularly on the wing, where Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Luis Nani and Wilfried Zaha have been ineffectual. Robben would bring goals to United, and netted 11 times in the Bundesliga last season, in 28 appearances. Between them, Young, Valencia, Nani and Zaha managed four goals last term, though Zaha went out on loan. The Munich man's stats are certainly good. At the World Cup he has a shots on target percentage of 89% - more than Brazil striker Neymar - and according to Squawka Stats had a pass accuracy of 82% last season. United's problems have stemmed from ball retention in the past having never really replaced Paul Scholes and would certainly benefit from a player like Robben in this area. However, Robben is 30 - at the tail end of the spectrum United use to sign new players - and there are some who feel van Gaal should go for someone younger. Bayern can also offer Robben Champions League football from next season - something United cannot - which may also factor into any potential transfer. What do you think? Should United sign Robben?
