According to the Polish source One.Pl, Manchester United have made a transfer bid worth £23.6 million for the Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski. Red Devils boss manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been interested in the player for the majority of the summer despite also confirming bids for Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie. United are reportedly interested in Lewandowski as a replacement for Manchester Uniteds No.9 Dimitar Berbatov who is rumoured to be leaving Old Trafford for Queens Park Rangers and as the club are looking light on numbers following the release of Michael Owen this summer. United have now reportedly placed a bid for the 23-year-old Polish striker, who would line up along side the likes of Wayne Rooney and old teammate Shinji Kagawa who also chose to leave Dortmund for Manchester United this summer. The reports of the Lewandowski bid comes at a time when Sir Alex Ferguson has been back and forth away from Manchester Uniteds pre-season campaign to intend to club business. Whilst this business could be anything, with Sir Alex still allowed to spend a further £20 million this summer, it could be that Sir Alex Ferguson is trying to seal the deal for the services of Lewandowski.
