Man Utd Transfer News: Cesc Fabregas Not Interested In Old Trafford Move

Sky Sports. The Spain midfielder had been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford from Barcelona, while former club Arsenal as well as Manchester City have also reportedly shown an interest. However, Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has moved to quash those claims . Last night, he said of Fabregas:

"He is surprised by the rumours that are so strong in England. "The club has definitely told me this evening that they have got no intention whatsoever of selling him.
Balague also cited the midfielder's enormous buy-out clause as a reason why a summer move is unlikely:
"His buyout clause, in case anybody is interested, is ‚200million (£171m), which is a little bit expensive. In any case it is a deterrent for people to come and try to poach him away. "If anything was going to happen it would be in the future, maybe next year, who knows, but what seems certain is that both the club and himself have decided he will stay at Barcelona for at least one more season."
United had reportedly earmarked the player as a replacement for Paul Scholes while Arsenal would clearly love their former captain to return to North London. Incoming City manager Manuel Pellegrini meanwhile is thought to be keen on bringing in La Liga talent when he moves from Malaga this summer. But all three look set to be disappointed according to these latest claims, and will now have to reconsider their summer transfer targets. Fabregas spent eight years at Arsenal and made over 300 appearances for the club, scoring 57 times and providing 100 assists. He left to join boyhood club Barcelona in 2011 for ‚29 million, and has since scored 19 La Liga goals.
