Manchester United's attempts to bring in a new left-back could see them make a move for gifted PSV youngster Jetro Willems, according to the Metro. The 18-year-old is rated as one of the biggest young talents in Holland and broke into the first team at PSV where he played 20 times last season, scoring once. He is fast, athletically gifted and technically astute full-back who likes to get forward and could be seen as a long-term replacement for the aging and under-performing Patrice Evra. Red Devils scout Martin Ferugson has passed on a dossier on the player to Fergie and the club's coaching staff after watching him play all three of Holland's matches at Euro 2012. Assistant manager Mike Phelan is now expected to fly out to Holland to watch Willems in pre-season games and the opening Eredivisie matches before perhaps making a late bid before the transfer window shuts, or attempting to sign him again in January. Sir Alex Ferguson had eyed Everton and England's Leighton Baines as their new long-term left-back but Evra believes he has at least one more season as a regular for the Old Trafford boss to perhaps look elsewhere for a youngster they can eventually nurture into the first team. Willems' impressive performances could see him cost as much as £10 million.
