Man Utd Transfer News: Fergie Wants Cristiano Ronaldo Back At Old Trafford
Sir Alex Ferguson is set to ask Manchester United officials to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, regardless of the cost.
The Daily Mirror, Sir Alex Ferguson is set to ask Manchester United officials to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, regardless of the cost. They say that the long-serving United boss will ask the Glazer family who own United "to do everything in their power to re-sign the 27-year-old' and to pay "whatever it takes" to bring the former Red Devil back to the Premier League. In 2009, Real Madrid purchased the Portuguese international from Manchester United for a world-record £80 million deal but the fee to bring him back to Old Trafford today, according to The Daily Mirror, could be "in excess of £100million". Ronaldo expressed his unhappiness during and after a Real Madrid match last week. Ronaldo said he was sad at the club and later took to Facebook to rule out rumours that his displeasure in Spain was money related. The Daily Mirror claims that reports in Spain had suggested that Ronaldo's unhappiness at Madrid could be over the Spanish Champion's refusal to offer him a new contract worth £500,000-a-week, however The Mirror claims that sources close to the player suggest he is instead hurt by a lack of respect from his Madrid team-mates and that his failure to be crowned European Player of the Year has shown he isn't getting the credit he deserves. Ronaldo was part of Manchester Uniteds Champions League and Premier League double winning side back in 2008. A United source said:
The manager made it clear when Ronaldo joined Real that if he ever left the Bernabeu he should return to Old Trafford. Its a transfer that would prove that United can still compete with anyone for the biggest names in football. But, at the moment, only Ronaldo knows whether he is serious about leaving Madrid or whether hes just having a sulk.
