Man Utd Transfer News: Gareth Bale Bid If Cristiano Ronaldo Move Falls Through?

Daily Star. The Red Devils have been trying to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford for months, and with incoming manager David Moyes set to take charge on Monday, will spend all of next week pressing ahead with their efforts to land the Portuguese superstar for a second time. Reports in Spain say the 28-year old will meet United officials next week. But if those efforts fail, they will instead focus on capturing Bale, who last season won three Player of the Year awards. Ronaldo spent six seasons at the Theatre of Dreams, winning three Premier League trophies and the Champions League, but landing his signature for a second time is proving to be increasingly difficult with newly appointed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reluctant to sell the superstar. The signing of Bale could be the most realistic scenario of the two, as Spurs would find it difficult to turn down an £80 million offer for their prized asset, while the attacking midfielder looks no closer to signing a fresh deal at White Hart Lane. Madrid are also keen on the Welshman's services, however.
