Man Utd Transfer News: Moyes Makes Improved £30m Fabregas Bid

By Simon Gallagher /

According to a breaking news story on Sky Sports News (and reported on the website here,) Manchester United have gone back to Barcelona and made an improved offer of £30million plus add-ons for Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. This follows hot on the tail of news earlier in the week that United had made a bid of £25million for the former Arsenal man, who would bring dynamism and drive to the United midfield, as well as a raft of invaluable Premier League experience. The Spaniard left English shores back in 2011 and resigned for boyhood club Barcelona, where he had started his youth career, but he has not been a regular starter under Tito Vilanova€™s and has seen his name linked to a number of different suitors already this summer. The 26-year-old midfielder, who could be brought in to bolster a midfield that lost Paul Scholes at the end of the season, has made it clear in the past that he would leave the Catalans if he was no longer wanted. In an interview with the Telegraph, new United manager David Moyes had confirmed that he hoped for movement on the deal in the next few days: €œI am in contact with the chief exec, Ed Woodward, who has been dealing with it just now,€ Moyes said. €œI€™ll hopefully know a little more in the next day or so and I may have a bit more information about how it€™s going. €œBut as far as players we are looking to bring in, we are working hard to do that and make some additions to the squad. Hopefully there will be some good news in the not too distant future.€ The Telegraph had earlier reported that Moyes' men were confident of signing the player, despite no official response from Barcelona, and would then be shifting their focus to an "audacious" bid for Tottenham's Gareth Bale.
