Man Utd Transfer News: Moyes To Make Late Yohan Cabaye Bid

By Simon Gallagher /

Following on from the news that Manchester United are willing to pay the £30million fee needed to activate Ander Herrera's release clause from Athletico Bilbao, and that Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye was put off a potential move to Arsenal when he was called a "reserve" in negotiations, it seems the Red Devils are keen on further bolstering their midfield options today. According to SportsDirectNews, United will make a bid for Yohan Cabaye in an effort to add to their midfield options before the transfer window closes. They say Cabaye is still keen to leave the North East after attracting well-publicised interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, and with Mesut Ozil and Juan Mata in the frame to join those teams respectively according to reports, the path might be clear for Cabaye to move to the North West. The Frenchman, who was left out of Newcastle's squads to face Man City and West Ham, made his first appearance of the season on Saturday from the bench against Fulham at St. James' Park, and was met with boos from various sections of the stadium. He was said to be unsettled by Arsenal's interest, and would face the possible ignominy of apologising to the Newcastle support if he doesn't make a move before 11pm tonight. The source suggests that United are readying a late bid to bring Cabaye to Old Trafford, as Moyes looks to add some much needed depth and creativity to his midfield. But that is in contradiction to what SkySports' North East correspondent David Craig has said about the player - he says Cabaye will stay on Tyneside beyond 11pm.
