Man Utd Transfer News: Nani Faces Old Trafford Axe
Manchester United are set to axe their Portuguese winger Nani after his disappointing performance against Everton on Monday evening.
The Sun, Manchester United are set to axe their Portuguese winger Nani after his disappointing performance against Everton on Monday evening. United and Nani's agent have reportedly had several discussions this summer regarding the future of the 25-year-old and despite efforts from both sides, a deal was never reached for an extension of his contract. Nani had a disappointing evening in Manchester Uniteds Premier League opener against Everton and according to The Sun, the player will not be offered a new deal and could be allowed to leave cheaply. A Manchester United source said:
The club did not think his form at the end of last season put him in a very strong bargaining position over a new deal. Monday was hardly his best either.Sir Alex Ferguson is set to choose Ashley Young over Nani for Uniteds first home game of the season against Fulham, and it is uncertain whether he will feature on the bench either. The United source added:
There was an intention to get him on a new four-year contract. But initial demands from Nanis side were way over the top. Right now United are happy to leave it until next summer unless his demands are dramatically dropped. But they wont sell unless silly money comes in.The player has two years left on his £90,000-a-week deal but was apparently asking for £130,000, something Manchester United wouldnt agree to.
