Man Utd Transfer News: Nani Signs New 5-Year Deal
BBC. The 26-year-old has been with the Red Devils for six years since joining in 2007 from Sporting Lisbon and will extend his stay at Old Trafford past his 30th birthday. During his time at United, the Portugal international has won eight trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League. He said:
"Playing at United has been a fantastic experience for me. When I came to the club, I never imagined the success we have enjoyed."There had been uncertainty surrounding Nani's future earlier this summer, after former manager Sir Alex Ferguson highlighted concerns over the midfielder's consistency back in February. The winger only made 10 Premier League appearances for the champions last season, after picking up a foot injury back in January that would effectively end his campaign. Nani also missed most of United's pre-season due to a nose problem, and with his contract set to expire next year, faced an unclear future. However, he has impressed new Red's manager David Moyes enough to be handed a new deal, with the former Everton boss believing the player can continue to perform at the highest level for years to come. Moyes said:
"I'm really pleased Nani has re-signed for the next five years. "He has great ability and experience beyond his 26 years. "I've been impressed with his approach to training and look forward to working with him in the coming seasons."Nani endears himself with United fans with his trademark acrobatic goal celebrations, which supporters will be hoping to see many more of over the coming seasons.
