Man Utd Transfer News: Red Devils Lead Way For Wilfried Zaha?

Are Manchester United leading the way for the signing of Wilfried Zaha?

ESPN. The promising 20-year old has been courted by a number of other Premier League sides as well as United, including London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, and his future has been of much speculation recently. Arsenal were thought at one point to be leading the way for the Ivorian-born national - who can play either up front or on the wing - as Gunners boss Arsene Wenger seeks a replacement in midfield for Theo Walcott, who is being moved to a striker's position in the side. But Man United have apparently stolen a march on their rivals, and the current standings of both sides in the Premier League - Arsenal are 6th and United are top - may have factored into the player's logic. United may also have edged out Arsenal to the player's signature with their willingness to allow Zaha to remain with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park until the summer, which would be ideal considering manager Ian Holloway is pushing for a promotion spot in the Championship. By contrast, Arsenal would likely want to sign the player as soon as possible. Palace chairman Steve Parish recently told TalkSport:

€œRight now, we€™re concentrating on trying to get out of this league and the best way of doing that is adding to what we€™ve got, not losing players.€ €œI think he will be a Palace player until the summer and then we will look at it. Obviously, we will look at anything that anybody offers us because we would be mad not to. €œIf we feel we can move the club forward from doing certain things, then we will. So, never say never. But, right now, we are focused on trying to keep everyone in the squad.€
Meanwhile, Zaha's possible move could spell the end of Nani's career at Old Trafford. His relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to have become fraught recently, particularly after he suggested he would reject a new deal at the club.
