"Transition". That has been the word used by most pundits to explain Manchester United's disastrous slump in form this season. Following the retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson earlier this year, there was always going to be a period of change at the club, but you could be for forgiven for thinking it's been more "upheaval" than "transition" since. Not only has Ferguson gone, but so too has chief executive David Gill, assistant manager Mike Phelan, goalkeeping coach Eric Steele and all the rest of the old backroom staff that has helped deliver success down the years. And this has hindered David Moyes, who replaced the irreplaceable Ferguson in July, and has had a truly torrid time of things ever since. Whether it was the pitiful pre-season, inert transfer window or a series of performances that have seen the club make their worst ever start to a Premier League season, the early, worrying signs are that Moyes could flop.
