Man Utd Transfers: 7 Radamel Falcao Alternatives Van Gaal Must Sign

By Scott Saunders /

1. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

It seems rather ridiculous that Robert Lewandowski takes place at the top of this list. Just why on earth would he leave Bayern Munich? Let alone when it's one year after he made a move across the country from their deadliest rivals, Borussia Dortmund? Well, word on the street is that the Polish hitman is not a happy bunny. That's not only with manager, Pep Guardiola, but the system he's been playing in. Like Cavani, Lewandowski has recently found himself moved out to a wide position - and that's when he actually plays - when all he wants to do is get into the penalty area and score goals. Lewandowski was absent for Bayern's Champions League last 16 first leg draw with Shakhtar Donetsk - the club's biggest match of the season to date - and it seems as though Lewandowski isn't as important to Bayern as he hoped he would have been. United have been in for him before, but Bayern were always the 26-year-old's first choice. If things continue in their current vein, perhaps there's a small chance of this one happening. However, with Lewandowski still yet to hit his natural peak, it'll be a very difficult transfer to pull off. Are any of these players realistic targets for Manchester United? Or are there better alternatives? Shoot us a comment to discuss.
