Man Utd Transfers: Red Devils Once Again In Talks For Mario Mandzukic
Untied re-renter negotiations to sign Juventus' 33-year-old Croatian striker.
With a deal now agreed to take Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United to Inter Milan, it appears as if the Red Devils are keen to bring in Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic to bolster their attacking options.
Sky Sports is reporting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are back in talks to bring the 33-year-old Croatian to Old Trafford.
Earlier this transfer window, United and Juve had preliminary talks about Mandzukic heading to Manchester – possibly as part of a deal that would have seen Lukaku move to The Old Lady. Those talks, of course, fell apart due to Paulo Dybala. The Argentine forward was also offered to the Red Devils in exchange for Lukaku, but United ultimately felt that Dybala’s heart wasn’t really in the move and so they pulled the plug.
Now though, the Manchester club are again sniffing around World Cup finalist Mario Mandzukic.
What the former Bayern Munich striker would offer United is a strong presence to spearhead their attack. At 33 years of age, he’s clearly no spring chicken, but experienced forward options have worked wonders for Manchester United at times over the years – the examples of Teddy Sheringham, Henrik Larsson, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming to mind.
For United fans, Mandzukic may not be the big-name glamour signing that they were hoping for, yet he could be a smart bit of a business should the club be able to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams for a decent price.
