Man Utd Transfers: Red Devils Pull Out Of Mario Mandzukic Deal
United pull out of talks to bring Juventus' Croatian striker to Old Trafford.
While some Manchester United fans were left bewildered at the news earlier today that the only deadline day transfer that looked likely was that of Juventus’ 33-year-old Mario Mandzukic, now comes word that talks have ended over that potential transfer.
The BBC’s Simon Stone – who extensively covers the Red Devils – is reporting that the Old Trafford outfit have decided against any deal for Mandzukic due to the financial demands of the player; United deciding that the wages being asked for were too much to pay for a player of Mandzukic’s age.
At least this will stop Manchester United fans from moaning about their club signing a 33-year-old, right?
For those fans, this last week of the transfer window has seen them teased with players like Paulo Dybala, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and the aforementioned Mandzukic heading to Old Trafford to add some creative and attacking threat to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time.
Instead, none of those players are heading to the Theatre of Dreams – plus Romelu Lukaku is currently in Italy to finalise his move to Inter Milan.
