Man Utd Transfers: Victor Lindelof's £30.75 Million Deal Confirmed
Jose Mourinho secures signing of Benfica centre-half.
Manchester United have confirmed the £30.75 million signing of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.
The 6'2 Swedish international centre-back becomes Red Devils' boss Jose Mourinho's first big summer signing, subject to the completion of paperwork and medicals.
United confirmed the signing via a statement on the club's official website;
“Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms.
“A further announcement will be made once the transfer is complete.”
Highly regarded in European football after impressing in recent seasons with the Portugese giants Benfica, 22-year-old Lindelof will look to secure a centre-half partnership with last summer's big money signing Eric Bailly as United set to embark on a Champions League campaign.
Back in May, Sky Sports reported that Mourinho was looking for a new centre-half with Burnley's Michael Keane, Southampton's Virgil van Dijk and Victor Lindelof said to be on his wishlist. In the end it's a move for the 22 times capped Swedish international defender that Mourinho has gone with and arriving at Old Trafford just as it was reported that his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic has exited the club.
