Man Utd "Want Dutch International Defender"

Louis van Gaal looks set for another expensive summer at Old Trafford...

French newspapers L'Equipe and Le Parisien are reporting that Manchester United want to sign Paris Saint Germain's Gregory van der Wiel. On Tuesday, Le Parisien said that United manager Louis van Gaal was leading the club's charge for the right back while today's edition of L'Equipe also reported that the former Premier League champions wanted to sign the player. There have been numerous reports down the years claiming that van Gall and van der Wiel don't get along too well. All this animosity seemed to come to a head last summer when the former Ajax man was left out of van Gaal's squad for the 2014 World Cup. The manager claimed his player was suffering with a niggling injury while the 27-year-old said otherwise. Now however, with the player having just one year on his PSG contract remaining, all that seems to be forgotten. The Red Devils' need for a right full back is arguably their primary area for strengthening this summer as for much of last season winger Antonio Valencia was forced to play there due to an injury to Rafael. There have been rumours circulating that suggest flop Angel Di Maria could be sent the other way as part of any deal. The French club tried to sign the Argentine last summer but couldn't due to Financial Fair Play rulings.
