Newcastle United have finally unveiled their full seven-game pre-season schedule for this summer as they prepare themselves to tackle the 2015-16 Premier League season. Starting with a match against local rivals Gateshead, the Magpies will then embark on a three-game tour of the USA in July, before they travel to two other domestic away grounds, and they finish their preparations by hosting a solitary game at St James' Park against Borussia Monchengladbach in August. The Premier League season begins on the weekend of August 8th and 9th, but Newcastle will have played seven preparation games before then - all of which are likely to be under the tutelage of Steve McClaren, who is expected to be appointed the Magpies' new boss within a few days. After facing the Heed at Gateshead International Stadium (Friday July 10th), they then travel to the USA to face Club Atlas of Mexico (Tuesday July 14th), Sacramento Republic FC (Saturday July 18th) and Portland Timbers (Tuesday July 21st). Upon returning to England, the Magpies will head to Bramall Lane to face League One Sheffield United (Sunday July 26th) for defender Chris Morgan's testimonial and then Bootham Crescent to play League Two York City (Wednesday July 29th). The Toon's pre-season concludes with a solitary game at St James' Park against Monchengladbach of the Bundesliga on Saturday August 1st.
