Newcastle Star Must "Question Himself" For Choosing To Move To Tyneside
Montpellier's manager has launched an astonishing attack on Cabella.
Montpellier manager Rolland Courbis has launched an unprovoked dig at Newcastle United midfielder Remy Cabella, questioning why the Frenchman chose to move to Tyneside. Cabella endured a difficult first season in the Premier League, netting just once, and Courbis has questioned the playmaker's wisdom in electing to head to the North East. In recent weeks, much speculation has arisen about Cabella's Tyneside future - with reports claiming he could head back to Ligue 1 with Marseille, or be used as a makeweight in order to bring Florian Thauvin to Tyneside. Interestingly, in the weeks before Cabella signed for Newcastle in the summer of 2014, Montpellier chairman Louis Nicollin made several derogatory remarks about the city and called the club "idiots and fools". Yet it it now Courbis who has attacked Cabella, stating that if the midfielder does not have a "huge contract financially" then he will "have to question himself". Speaking to RMC, Courbis said:
"With some irony, I said that I was not mad about Newcastle (as a transfer destination). "I sincerely hope with all my heart, because God knows I love this little boy, that he has a huge contract financially. "From being with Montpellier and being in the 23 players that represent the France team, to going to playing only a part of the games, while scoring one goal when you scored 15 or so with Montpellier (in 2013-14), I really hope he has some financial compensation. "If in the morning, he wakes up, and he is happy to go to train at Newcastle, he will have to question himself."Will Cabella take these words to heart and leave Tyneside this summer? Or will it prompt him on to prove his best form for Newcastle? Toon supporters will certainly hope for the latter outcome...
