Newcastle Striker Nominated For Player Of The Month Award

nominated for the League One Player of the Month award. The 18-year-old striker has buried five goals in as many games for the Sky Blues and has scored some spectacular goals. Armstrong scored a brace on the first game of the season against Wigan and then followed that up against Millwall where he bagged another two goals, helping Coventry to a fifth place position in League One. The hope is that Steve McClaren can integrate Armstrong into his set-up at the end of the season and he can use his lower division experience to begin to compete at the top level. It would be a shame if the England U18's international didn't succeed at the Magpies as he's clearly a very fine young footballer. West Denton-born Armstrong has made 19 first-team appearances for Newcastle to date but is yet to find the back of the net. The forward has been prolific in both the reserves and for England Under-18s, however - netting nine times in as many games for the Young Lions.
