Newcastle Transfer News: Remy Cabella In Talks To Join Magpies?

By Joseph Dempsey /

Newcastle United will today open talks with Montpellier over a potential deal for their midfielder Remy Cabella, according to the Mail Online. The Magpies were linked with a move for Cabella earlier this week with a bid expected to be incoming while Manchester United have also been said to hold interest. The 23-year-old is understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League having spent the entirety of his career so far in Ligue 1, and could be seen as a replacement for Jonas Gutierrez. Norwich are keen on the 30-year-old Argentinian, while Gabriel Obertan is also wanted by French side Evian. The three potential moves would be seen as a reshuffling of Alan Pardew's midfield while Cabella would become the second Frenchman to move to St James' Park in the space of two transfer windows following the capture on loan of Loic Remy of Queens Park Rangers last summer. Cabella has scored 15 goals for Montpellier since making his debut in 2009 after coming through the club's youth system, and has also been capped four times by the France U-21 side. He has been said in the past to possess remarkable ball control and dribbling skills, as well as speed of execution.
