Newcastle Transfer News: Yoan Gouffran Confirms Magpies Move On Twitter

By Matt Holmes /

Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran has confirmed on Twitter tonight that he will join Newcastle United on Wednesday. Gouffran wrote to his followers on the social media site;
"Big thanks to everyone who has supported me through the good times and bad times. I thank the leadership of the club and the staff for helping me grow. "I need a new challenge and therefore I hope that you respect my choice. I will follow all the results of the Girondins (Bordeaux). "Tomorrow I will be a new player of Newcastle and I am proud. Thanks to everyone....kisses."
Teamtalk had reported earlier today that The Magpies had agreed an undisclosed fee with the French team for the 26-year-old striker. Meanwhile, a French media outlet (via nufc.com) claims the deal for Gouffran was for four and half year deal, potentially reaching £2.1 million. L'Equipe reported that Gouffran had been omitted from the Girondins squad for tomorrow night's Coupe de France tie against Moulins. He was officially classified as "absent" from the team, rather than an injury listed. As of 8pm on Tuesday, no confirmation had come from either Marseille or Newcastle United over the deal. If Gouffran does finalise his move to St. James' Park tomorrow he would become the latest in a long line of players to join manager Alan Pardew's French revolution. As we reported earlier FOUR big signings from France are expected to join the Premier League strugglers this week.
