Demba Ba has been linked with a move away from Newcastle for as long as a Transfer Window has been ever since his move to St James Park last year, but this time there's a twist. Last year a buy out clause of £7.5million was inserted into his contract which means any club offering that amount in January has the right to speak to the former West Ham forward. Added to that is Demba Ba's reticence to sign a new deal with Newcastle, which has created interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham. To further stoke the fire, the 27 year old, when speaking about a potential move to Arsenal, commented:
Arsenal are one of those teams who makes you dream.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew recently confided that he would be "powerless" to stop the Senegalese striker from moving on, and might now turn his attentions to a replacement (or two) for a forward who has scored an impressive eleven times so far this season. Here are 5 players who could replace him...
5. Seydou Doumbia
In September, Newcastle were said to be one of three clubs interested in the Ivorian goal machine. The pacy Doumbia managed 26 goals for CSKA Moscow last season, and that has led to interest from Italian sides Lazio and Napoli. Doumbia first came to prominence by plundering 57 goals in two seasons for Swiss side Young Boys, and has since been capped 10 times by the Ivory Coast. If Newcastle do end up losing Demba Ba, then signing a player with such a prodigious goal scoring record would be a smart move by Pardew, if he can fend off the advances of the Italian giants to land his signature that is.
