Greg Hall looks at 5 alternative (and cheaper!) strikers the Toon should buy instead of Andy Carroll.

West Ham has offered Liverpool a loan of £2 million now and £17 million if they happen to avoid relegation. Newcastle are also believed to be preparing a bid of £16 million straight up. There is one reason I think the normally skinflint businessman Mike Ashley is contemplating about spending this exorbitant amount of money. This being that anything he spends on buying Andy back is straight profit. Something he can rub in the noses of the Liverpool establishment, and gasconade about his business acumen. I want Andy Carroll to come home, but not for more than £13 million. £13 million or under? Great. I€™ll pick him up from the airport with a Newcastle Brown in hand. But alas, Brendan Rodgers won€™t let this happen. So I have compiled a list of five players (in no particular order) that I think the powers at be should look at in lieu of Andy Carroll.
