Newcastle Will "Speak" To John Carver About Head Coach's Job In Next 48 Hours

Can you believe it has come to this...

Newcastle United will speak to John Carver about the 'vacant' head coach's position at St James' Park after Sky Sports revealed Patrick Vieira is no longer under consideration. In fact, their investigative reporter Amy Lewis believes The Magpies' top job isn't vacant at all and still belongs to Carver, who oversaw arguably the worst five months in the club's history results wise. She also reckons that former Arsenal midfielder Vieira was never under consideration for the post and no talks have or are set to take place. She tweeted: https://twitter.com/SkySportsAmy/status/605691884925796352 She went on to say: https://twitter.com/SkySportsAmy/status/605692725980184576 Lewis' findings are proof that Mike Ashley's interview before the West Ham game on the final day of the Premier League was nothing more than a ploy to get more season ticket sales made ahead of next season. There's no ambition at the club. Period. Nothing has changed. Both Carver and McClaren are cheap options that quite frankly no one else wants. The former England manager was sacked by a Championship club in Derby County last week and looks set to land a job in the big time. That's if Lee Charnley and Newcastle's football board don't settle for Sir Bobby Robson's former assistant of course. How does that work? Given the way United's season almost ended in fatality, John Carver, who sank the team from mid table no man's land into the thick of a Premier League relegation battle, should be nowhere near the running for the job. He proved that it was far too big for him and his skill set isn't up to scratch in terms of Premier League management.
