NFL: 5 Head Coaches On The Hot Seat In 2013

By Doug Rush /

4. Ron Rivera, Carolina Panthers

It will only be Rivera's third season at the helm of the Panther head coaching job in 2013, but the clock is ticking on him. Rivera was not the original choice by current Panthers management and he hasn't done anything to make sure he has a safe clutch on his job. Granted, he's gone 6-10 and 7-9 in his first two seasons and has shown improvement from when he took over from John Fox. But that won't stop the Panthers owner from getting frustrated and fed up with not seeing a .500 team in almost five seasons, when people thought Carolina was a Super Bowl contender. Rivera has to know he's coaching for his job next season. Finishing anything less than 8-8 would get him the ax.
