Of course, it€™s a little bit strange to be talking about the Norwich City defence on the back of a 4-1 away defeat this past weekend. However, the reality of the situation is that it€™s a strong back unit that is more likely to save the Canaries from relegation than what they offer going forward. Obviously, there is a bit of a creative license here because the team does need to score goals to win games. However, it€™s certainly a point worth making that a strong defence means that the odd goal can often be enough to win games. A point that has already come true this season in certain games; this will be one of my usual slideshows featuring strong opinions and stats sourced from Who Scored. As we know, manager Chris Hughton was a defender during his playing career, and it€™s probably fair to say that he values the defensive side of the game ahead of attacking brilliance. For this reason, Sunday€™s defeat against Aston Villa will have hurt him deeply as his team took a 1-0 lead €“ but were not able to defend their advantage. The fact that they leaked four goals means that he will be looking for a response, especially from his defensive players.
