The report claims that Crystal Palace have expressed an interest in the defender but that the club will have to move quickly as the transfer window shuts in six hours and there is yet to be an official bid made.

Pardew, who has won three Premier League games out of four this season with the Eagles, is reportedly a big fan of the player. He managed the Newcastle-born defender during his four year spell at St James' Park and handed him his senior debut.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature this season after a hamstring problem ruled him out of Newcastle's first four Premier League games. Dummett was on the bench for the League Cup win against Northampton Town.

Reports have said that the Magpies rate Dummett, who has two years on his contract, at £8 million.
