Premier League: 10 Best Transfers of 2012

9. Shinji Kagawa (Manchester United, £17 million)

Having impressed at Borussia Dortmund last season, scoring 21 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, the young Japanese midfielder has had to assume a deeper role this season at United, but has still managed to score 2 goals and create 1 assist in 6 league games, hinting at the potential that was on show in the Bundesliga. Seen as the direct, penetrating, attacking midfield dynamo that United needed, and as the eventual permanent successor to Paul Scholes when he decides to abdicate his throne. Often praised and always appreciated for his natural ability as a playmaker, and for his prowess in creating chances for others. He also likes a long shot or two himself, which is never a bad thing, unless you're Anderson (a little joke for United fans there). Rating: 9/10 Dynamic and dangerous in attack.
