Remy Cabella Issues "Come And Get Me" Plea To Newcastle After Speaking To Cabaye

By Jak Penny /

A rare spot of positive news for Newcastle fans this morning after Remy Cabella more or less issued a "come and get me" plea to the club over the weekend. The Montpellier attacker, a long-term target of ours, dropped a huge hint in an interview on the popular Télefoot football show that he is open to joining the Magpies in the summer after speaking to Yohan Cabaye about life on Tyneside. €œNewcastle are one of the greatest teams in England and Yohan Cabaye has told me a lot of good things about them," he is quoted by the Journal as saying.

€œI have an agreement with Montpellier if an offer comes in that interests me, I will then reflect calmly and make the right choice.€

And we hope the club can make swift progress on a potential deal for the immensely talented 24-year-old playmaker who has been courted since January as the natural replacement for Cabaye by supporters. It's believed Cabella would like any transfer, whether it be to Newcastle or elsewhere, wrapped up before his holidays or the World Cup after being named as a reserve in the France squad for this summers tournament in Brazil. His father and agent, Hector, has made positive noises in the past about his son moving to Tyneside and we hope that the Club can make up for lost time by making Cabella our first permanent signing in 16-months. Additionally, it's brilliant to learn that Cabaye is openly speaking in glowing terms about the club to players of Cabella's quality and hopefully set an early precedent for our pre-season recruitment strategy.
