Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Andros Townsend was dropped from the Tottenham Hotspur squad for the team's emphatic 4-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon. Scintillating Argentinian Erik Lamela, last season's Player of the Year Christian Eriksen and Belgian Nacer Chadli - who helped himself to two goals on the day - occupied the three positions behind the striker, while Aaron Lennon, Lewis Holtby and Mousa Dembele - all of whom can play in those positions - were given a place on the bench. Amidst apparent interest from Southampton - who are said to have had a second bid of £12 million for Townsend rejected this past weekend - the snubbing casts a major doubt over the England man's future at White Hart Lane. Competition for places all over the pitch is high at Spurs and Pochettino is said to be trimming the squad somewhat - not least to accommodate more potential new signings before the closing of the current transfer window - and Townsend could be one of those players who is allowed to leave. Townsend injured his ankle towards the end of last season and missed the World Cup as a result, having been instrumental in England's qualification for the competition in his first couple of caps. But what do Spurs fans think of that idea? Should Townsend be a part of Spurs' future? Should he even be a regular first team starter? Or is Pochettino right to drop him and should he be allowed to leave the club? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below. And please feel free to follow me on Twitter!
