Spurs To Sign Philippe Coutinho Under Arsenal's Noses?

With Barcelona seemingly content to allow Philippe Coutinho to leave Camp Nou, Spurs have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners for the classy Brazilian’s signature.
Those reports from The Sun claim that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are in pole position to snap up the former Liverpool ace, although they face competition from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Coutinho joined the Catalan giants in January 2018 for a whopping £142 million, but the attacking midfield player has struggled in his 20 months at Barca.
The catalyst for this appears to be United’s renewed interest in Christian Eriksen – a player in the final 12 months of his contract – which would mean Spurs would clearly be lacking a vital attacking cog in their system should the Dane head to Old Trafford.
If the reports from earlier this summer are to be believed, Barcelona would be prepared to let Coutinho leave on loan for a fee in the region of £27 million in addition to being open to a permanent transfer for the Brazil international.
For Tottenham, The Little Magician would offer a creative verve and dynamism going forward – which would obviously be needed should Eriksen indeed depart the club before the British transfer window slams shut on Thursday.
