Spurs Transfer News: AVB Puts TEN Players Up For Sale, Including Scott Parker & Jermain Defoe

Metro. Spurs came agonisingly short of qualifying for Europe's elite competition on the final day of last season, two seasons in a row where they have missed out by just a whisker. To ensure they definitely do qualify next season, Spurs boss Villas-Boas wants a fresh look to his side and that may not involve several current key players as part of a restructuring process. Former Football Writers' Association Player Of The Year Scott Parker is thought to be one player set to leave. After a fine year in Harry Redknapp's final campaign in charge during the 2011-2012 season, the 32 year old struggled for fitness last term and failed to make the same kind of impact he had previous. Another England international that could be on the chopping block is Jermaine Defoe, who despite playing in 34 Premier League games last year, struggled for consistency. Although 11 Premier League goals doesn't look bad on paper, it may not be the return Villas-Boas believes a leading striker at the club should have. Villa-Boas has already allowed veteran defender William Gallas' contract to expire this summer along with David Bentley and John Bostock and other players that could be heading for the White Hart Lane exit include Tom Huddlestone, Andros Townsend, Brad Friedel and Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Those potential sales will free up funds, wages and room in the squad for the players that Spurs fans hope will help improve on their 5th placed finish last season. With interest from Fulham in Townsend and Huddlestone and Inter Milan pursuing Assou-Ekotto, it could be a busy season for Tottenham Hotspur with Brazilian Leonardo Damiao, Loic Remy and Fredy Guarin set to be their leading targets. Will Parker and Defoe be missed at Tottenham? Are there any players you€™d rather see shown the door? Thoughts welcome below.
