Spurs Transfer News: AVB To Offer £15 Million For Corinthians Star Paulinho

Mail Online, Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a bid worth £15 million for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Italy with Roma and Inter Milan both showing interest in the player but the Serie A sides could be beaten by Spurs who are set to make a bid for the Corinthians star. The Lilywhites may have to increase the fee to £18 million (his current buy out clause) for his club to sell their star asset but the Brazilian is reportedly favouring a move to the Premier League with White Hart Lane seemingly his most likely destination. The deputy director at Corinthians, Duilio Monteiro Alves, has confirmed interest from the London-based club:

€œ(Tottenham) is a club that we know who has an interest, but nothing official yet. Of course it will come. We expect it in the coming days.€
Alves also stated the club intend to keep the player at the club:
€œOur intention is to keep him but let€™s wait and see; if it€™s good for him, good for the Corinthians, we will make a decision.€
Tottenham€™s only Brazilian player in the current first-team squad is central midfielder Sandro, but the club look set to embrace a faster playing approach with the signing of their second Brazilian, hoping he can help them secure a top-four spot come the end of the season. With Fenerbahce having hinted at signing Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor, the funds that Tottenham would receive will likely go straight into a deal to sign Paulinho.
