Spurs Transfer News: Flop Erik Lamela To Leave On Loan?

By Joseph Dempsey /

Spurs flop Erik Lamela is set to be farmed out on loan to Inter Milan after failing to adapt to life in the Premier League, according to the Daily Star. Lamela was a club-record buy when he arrived at White Hart Lane from AS Roma for £30 million last summer. It was hoped the 21-year-old would help fill the void left by Gareth Bale, yet the attacker has scored just once in 17 outings for the Lilywhites. And now, the Argentina international's agents are believed to have flown to Rome to discuss the potential of a move with Inter officials, according to reports in Italy. Talks are in a preliminary stage but Lamela will be acutely aware he needs to rediscover his form - and fast - with the World Cup just six months away, and a loan could help with that. The midfielder has struggled since his move to England, both on the field and off it. Not only has he flattered to deceive for Spurs, but he has also found it difficult to pick up the English language and settle down. And a move to Italy could be just the fresh start he needs to revive his career.
