Spurs Transfer News: Gareth Bale Talks With Real Madrid "At Advanced Stage"
BBC. The 24-year-old has been the subject of one of this summer's most enduring of transfer sagas and though a deal has yet to be agreed, the sale could finally happen in the coming days. Bale has made it clear that he wants to join the Spanish giants and has not travelled for tonight's Europa League clash against Dinamo Tiblisi because of a foot injury. Any deal for the Wales international would see the midfielder become the world's most expensive player, with recent reports suggesting Real are prepared to pay £93 million plus defender Fabio Coentrao. And that would dwarf the current world transfer record that Real set themselves when they paid Manchester United £80 million for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. Spurs have already been busy spending much of the fee they are likely to receive for Bale, spending £60 million on Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado and tienne Capoue. Meanwhile, a £30 million deal for Anzhi's Willian is expected to be completed shortly after the winger underwent a medical at White Hart Lane yesterday. A deal for Bale will not be announced before Real's friendly with Qatar side Al Sadd later today, but it could be completed by the weekend. The number 11 shirt, which Bale currently wears at Tottenham, has been left vacant at Real with the expectation that their new record signing is set to take it upon his arrival at the Bernabeu.
