Spurs Transfer News: Nacer Chadli Signing Close
Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are close to signing winger Nacer Chadli from FC Twente in the Netherlands. The Belgian international scored 12 times in 26 Eredivisie appearances last season, whilst he also added six more in ten games in the Europa League including the qualifying rounds. Indeed, Chadli scored against Spurs in the Europa League when Twente and the Lilywhites met in the competition 3 years ago. Having spent much of the summer coveting the Brazilian trio of Leandro Damiao, Bernard and Paulinho - the latter of whom recently signed for the club - Spurs are now looking to add to their growing Belgian contingent; the club already have Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele on their books, while Chadli and Christian Benteke are said to be the current targets. Spurs are reported to have offered £6m for Chadli, while Twente are supposedly holding out for £7.75 million, which could represent an absolute steal for a player who ticks all of the Spurs boxes - he's young, talented, attacking in nature, scores goals and would have the sell-on value that Chairman Daniel Levy tends to crave. The player is said to have attracted interest from fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Liverpool, so if Spurs want to wrap up the signing they will have to do so quickly or risk missing out - just like they have on David Villa.
