Spurs Transfers: 5 Southampton Players Mauricio Pochettino Should Sign For Tottenham

3. Luke Shaw

Another Southampton player who has enjoyed a breakout season is Luke Shaw. Like Lallana, the left back was named in the PFA Team of the Year and made his senior England debut. A spectacular season was capped off when Shaw was named in Roy Hodgson€™s 23-man squad for this summer€™s World Cup in Brazil. Unsurprisingly Shaw€™s impressive performances have caught the eyes of Chelsea and Manchester United. Once a trainee at Chelsea, Shaw may be tempted to return to Stamford Bridge and settle unfinished business, while Manchester United€™s demise offers the left back first team football and the chance to restore the Red Devils to the Champions League. Until Pochettino€™s departure, Tottenham were not even considered in the running for Shaw. However, reports claim that the 18-year-old and Argentine boss bid an emotional farewell following Pochettino€™s decision to head to White Hart Lane. The two clearly shared a great bond and the former Southampton boss has played a major role in Shaw€™s development. With that in mind, it is not unfeasible to think that if Spurs can afford the fee, Shaw would be tempted by a move to North London. He would certainly be a brilliant signing for Spurs. Blessed with pace and power, it is sometimes easy to forget that Shaw is still only 18. His overlapping runs and tireless work-rate would no doubt suit Pochettino€™s plans for an attacking and pressing Tottenham side, while also providing an upgrade on current left back Danny Rose.
